Aloe Vera Face Mask

Use an aloe vera face mask once and you will want to use it again and again. Years ago, whilst on holiday in Lanzarote, I saw Aloe Vera being sold everywhere : advertising was designed to show the benefits of this miracle plant.

I actually bought a plant and carefully brought it home on the plane. I would be prevented at customs today trying to bring a plant into the country, but a decade ago it was of no concern. I carefully nourished this plant and used the gel which is within the leaves for many first aid wounds such as burns, sunburn, cuts and grazes.

As a beauty therapist, I started to experiment using Aloe Vera in face masks and found it had amazing results, improving blemishes and spots, leaving the skin looking fresh and alive. However, there is no need to go out and buy an Aloe Vera plant because most health shops will be able to supply you with Aloe Vera gel in a tube or bottle. aloe vera face mask

One of the biggest benefits of Aloe Vera on the skin is it can penetrate all three layers which make up the skin, where it can work its anti-inflammatory anti-bacterial, and anti-fungal properties. Very few natural products can do this.

Benefits are :

Anti-inflammatory - helping to reduce horrible red angry spots
Anti-bacterial - helping reduce further outbreaks of spots and blemishes.

Aloe Vera Face Mask

Ingredients

aloe vera face mask

  • 4 tablespoons of kaolin
  • A little aloe vera juice or gel
  • 1 teaspoon of honey

Instructions

Warning - the mixture should be fairly thick, verging on a paste. The aloe vera should be added drop by drop otherwise the mixture will become too runny to manage. If this happens add more kaolin. Using a fairly small bowl, measure out the kaolin and aloe vera and mix together. For something extra special add a teaspoon of honey into the mixture. Mix to a paste.

Leave to stand in the bowl for at least 30 minutes before gently spreading over entire face, neck and shoulder area. You only need to apply a thin layer of mask. Leave the mask on for 15 - 30 minutes before rinsing off with warm water. You can leave this mixture to stand overnight if you wish, it does not need to be used immediately although it should be used within 24 hours because the air will dry it out
