Banana Nutrition Facts

healthy eating tips

Banana Nutrition Facts - Bananas are so full of energy giving life that I just felt I had to write a page dedicated to them for our healthy eating selection.

This fruit comes mainly from hot countries such as Brazil, the Philippines and Indonesia. They are transported all over the world in temperature controlled containers. They must not be refrigerated because their skins will turn brown and will not sell.

As anyone can tell you, bananas are delicious and a fruit which is not only good to eat but contains many nutrients. Bananas are rich in potassium, magnesium and vitamin C and B6. Because of this it is a real favourite with athletes.
  • Vitamin C - an antioxidant which helps clear free radicals. It helps fight infection and promotes healing.
  • Vitamin B6 - It helps with growth and development and also helps form red blood cells.
  • Potassium - helps communication between nerves and the making of protein within the body.
  • Magnesium - helps give the body energy and also helps in the development of bones.
There are about 100 calories in one average sized banana; a large banana will contain more and a small banana will contain less.

There is more to life than a few banana nutrition facts - you can use bananas in all sorts of other ways.

Face Mask - If you are wondering how a banana can be used in skincare, look no further than our banana mask. Combined with honey and oats, this mask is excellent for dry skin or normal skin which needs a helping hand.

Smoothie - Bananas are delicious to eat by themselves, however try them in a smoothie, they are heaven to drink.

Banana Lush Smoothie
  • 1 banana
  • 1 mango
  • 1 passion fruit
  • 1 orange
  • 1tsp of honey
  • 1 small tub natural yogurt
Mix all the ingredients in a blender until smooth. If you have a juicer then juice the mango, orange, and passion fruit before transferring to the blender and mixing the banana and yogurt into the juice. Pour into a tall glass adding a few ice cubes to finish.

Have a look at our smoothie page for other recipes.
