bath melts recipe - One of my favourite treats to give myself is a bath melt. Why? Because indulging in a bath full of oils moisturises my skin, making my body feel wonderfully soft during the bath and for many hours afterwards.
By making my own bath melts, I not only know the oils that are soaking into my skin but I can choose which aromatherapy oils
to use depending on my mood or any skin treatments I may wish to use. If my skin is particularly sensitive
, I might use rose essential oil or if I want to boost my energy levels I will use lemongrass; of course if I just wanted to lie in the bath
to relax, I will use lavender
.
Remember if adding a powder then mix a tiny amount of sweet almond oil to make a paste, dissolving the powder first, before adding to the mixture.
For something a little different, try adding some sea salt to the bottom of the moulds before pouring the oils into them. This gives a nice crispy top to your melts and the added therapeutic benefits of sea salt.
Bath Melts Recipe
2 parts cocoa butter
1 part sweet almond oil
Colour dye as required
Essential or Fragrance oil
Over a low heat gently melt the cocoa butter. Add the sweet almond oil after the cocoa butter has melted and mix the two thoroughly together. Leave the mixture to cool. When the mixture is cool but still a liquid, add your colour, essential oils, fragrance oil or powders, and hand whisk so that they are mixed well into the oils. Place the mixture into moulds or a baking tray where your melts can be cut into squares when set. Now place the liquid full moulds into the fridge to chill and set.
