Just like commercial bath oils, homemade bath oil recipes make the skin soft and silky, giving it a youthful glow. It is indeed one of the best ways of keeping your body and skin young and youthful. For hundreds, if not, thousands of years now, they have been used to promote healing, relieve stress, and reduce cellulite and fat.

They can be used in body rituals and aromatherapy baths for the purpose of providing physical, mental and spiritual therapy. When used in a bath, their therapeutic action is two-fold. First, the essential oils can easily be absorbed by the skin and into the blood stream. Second, the aroma from the steam are inhaled, which can increase sense of well-being and stimulate the brain cells.

Tip If you prefer to shower, try massaging bath oil into your skin while your skin is still warm from the water. This will leave the skin silky soft.

Relaxing Garden Bath Oil
  • 4tbsp almond oil
  • 12 drops of sandalwood essential oil
  • 8 drops orange oil essential oil
  • 4 drops of rose oil
  • 2 drops lemon oil
Mix all the above together and store in a dark bottle. Add about 1tbls of scented oil to a warm bath and swish the water around. Relax and enjoy your bath for at least 15 minutes.

Zest of Bath Oil

  • 100ml almond oil
  • 20ml wheat germ oil
  • 25 drops grapefruit essential oil
  • 25 drops corriander essential oil
Mix all the above together and store in a dark bottle. Add about 1tbls of scented oil to a warm bath and swish the water around. Relax and enjoy your bath for at least 15 minutes.

You can use treated castor oil such as Red Turkey oil, which is a dispersible base oil. If desired, add essential oils of your choice into the bottle.
  • 1 teaspoon of base oil to every
  • 5 drops of essential oil.
Use 1 teaspoon of this mixture to your bath. An alternative method is adding
  • 1 teaspoon of Red Turkey oil and
  • 4-6 drops of essential oil to your bath.
Then you're set to go and enjoy a relaxing and stimulating bath.

Other base oils that you can use with your homemade bath oil recipes are avocado oil, almond oil, apricot oil and grape seed oil.

If you have dry skin, you can use essential oils such as Chamomile German Oil, Benzoin Oil, Palma Rosa Oil, Pettigrain Oil, Bosi De Rose Oil, Patchouli Oil, Geranium Oil, Lavender Oil and Carrot Oil.

Essential oils that are ideal for oily skin include Ylang-Ylang Oil, Jasmine Oil, Lemon Oil, Cypress Oil, Chamomile Roman Oil, Neroli Oil, Clary-Sage Oil, Nutmeg Oil, Bergamot Oil, Orange Oil, and Lavender Oil.
