The Best Grilled Salmon Recipe



The following is the best grilled salmon recipe that I have ever tasted. It’s simple but delicious. Being a Scottish girl and a lover of salmon, I have tasted salmon throughout the world and fancy myself as a bit of a salmon connoisseur. I firmly believe that the salmon fresh out of our clear water Scottish rivers are the very best and by far the tastiest. These fish have not been fed antibiotics to make them grow faster as they have lived on nature's products alone. However I appreciate that it might not be easy to buy Scottish salmon where you are: don’t worry as long as you buy wild salmon which has lived and has grown in a river, and not a fish farm. Whenever I eat out and salmon is on the menu you can be sure that it is my choice !

Salmon is an oily fish which has a high fat content. This is why grilling is the best way to cook salmon as you are not adding any oils or fat, and you may lose some of the natural fats in cooking. However there are so many nutrients and of course omega 3 fatty acids that it makes it a very healthy dish. As long as you only eat it once or twice a week you will come to no harm and this recipe can be incorporated into a weight loss diet. Take the salmon fillets out of the fridge an hour before cooking as this allows them to reach room temperature and therefore they will cook quicker.

The Best Grilled Salmon Recipe
  • 4 salmon fillets
  • Salt and pepper
  • 3 tablespoons of lemon juice - you will require more if you chose to marinate the fillets
  • 1 lemon for garnish
In this recipe you have the choice of either marinating the fillets overnight in lemon juice or pouring lemon juice over them just before cooking. 1. Put the grill on at a medium heat

2. Place salmon on a heat proof tray

3. Make two or three slits with a sharp knife over the top of the filets

4. Sprinkle pepper and salt over both the top and underneath of the fillets

5. Pour the lemon juice over the top and underneath the fillets

6. Grill the salmon for about 10 minutes

When ready, place the salmon fillets on a plate and garish with lemon slices served with new potatoes.
