Best makeup for oily skin including some great tips
Before you start using our best makeup for oily skin tips you should make sure your face is clean. Think of it as a painting. You need a clean blank canvas before you start. Try our lemon facial cleanser which is ideal for oily skin or our wonderful calming chamomile cleansing milk. If you have any dry patches caused by over-zealous application of spot concealer then exfoliate before you start using our oranges and lemon scrub.
The secret of perfect makeup application is to use good makeup brushes.
1. Start by applying a
moisturiser for oily skin. Yes, even oily skin needs moisturiser to keep it soft and supple, and it may actually reduce oiliness by letting the skin believe it has produced enough. Now blot the skin dry using soft tissue.
2. Before applying foundation, apply a
green colour correction to any blemishes you have. It may sound strange but the green will dampen down any redness.
3. The best makeup for oily skin is
Oil Free Liquid Foundation as this will not aggravate your skin to produce more oil. They are smooth and easy to apply giving a natural finish and coverage to any blemishes.
4. Ensure you are in a room with
lots of daylight. Chose a foundation colour which is closest to your own colouring. Never match the foundation with the skin on your hands but
match by stroking a little onto your jaw-line then blend into your face and neck area - a good matching foundation should disappear into your skin colouring.
5. After you have applied your foundation, apply powder which, just like your foundation, should match your skin colouring closely. This will help prevent any shiny patches appearing and absorb any excess oil sitting on your skin. My own preference is
loose powder as this gives the longest lasting finish. Dust a little onto a large make-up brush, tapping any excess off, before lightly brushing over your entire face. Finish by lightly brushing downwards towards the neck so all the tiny hairs on your face are not seen.
6. For your
eyes and cheeks you should always use a powder which is soft and natural in colour: stay away from glittery, shimmery ones which only play up the oily look.
7. Take some tissue in your hand-bag to
blot your face throughout the day to keep your make-up fresh. Make one of our
facial skin toners which are ideal for this purpose
