This is a version of LUSH Cosmetics "Buffy" Bar
78 grams refined cocoa butter
78 grams refined shea butter
14 grams ground rice
14 grams ground almonds
12 grams ground adzuki beans
4 grams fragrance or essential oil (LUSH uses lavender & lemon)
Melt butters & add exfoliants which have been ground in your food processor/blender. Stir well. Cool to approximately 115 degrees & then add fragrance. Put in refrigerator to chill til opaque & slightly thickened. This will help keep the exfoliants suspended.
Stir well. Spoon into mold of your choice & bang mold gently on
counter to remove any air bubbles. Put mold in refrigerator until
hardened. When chilled enough, bars should easily pop right out
of the molds. Recipe will yield 2 - 100 gram bars. LUSH comes
in a square bar, but they recommend that you cut into pieces that
you can take into the shower for single use and that you do not
store the bar in the shower because it will melt due to the heat
& steam. When I make these, I use small molds that hold about
1/2 ounce each (I like the heart & lips molds because they fit
nicely in your hand & are the perfect size for one time use
without waste).
Directions for use: After bathing rub bar over your skin to
gently exfoliate & deeply moisturize. Rinse & you're ready
to towel off & dress. No more rubbing in lotion & waiting
for it to dry! This is an awesome time-saver and your rinse
water will literally bead up on your skin. Enjoy!
