Coconut Oil For Acne

coconut oil for skin

Have you ever thought about using coconut oil for acne?
No, then you are missing a treatment that might really work for you.

When you think of a sunny place with soft sand and ocean waves you cannot complete the picture without a coconut palm moving in the balmy breeze.

It's no surprise or accident that the women who live in such places have beautiful skin.

Coconut not only has enormous health properties internally but externally as well. This wonderful oil will protect your skin against against free radical damage, which in turn will help you avoid lines and wrinkles.

Coconut is also rich in vitamin E which soothes inflammation and repairs skin damage.

How does coconut oil for acne help?

Some people might thing the last thing they want to do is to put more oil on their acne as this would only make things worse. However coconut oil has some very special properties.

The oil contains both anti bacterial and anti virus properties. Acne is caused by bacteria which then causes inflammation with the result of pimples, spots and sometimes boils. By using the oil regularly you are preventing infection which results in acne.

Many people think oily skin does not need a moisturiser. This is not true as it is not the excess oil which causes spots: it is bacteria. Often by moisturising oily skin you can actually stop the skin over-producing. How? The skin thinks it has produced enough oil for the skin, therefore produces less.

Some Acne Tips

Say no to squeezing. Squeezing spots, pimples, blackheads and blemishes is a big no-no as this is a sure way to spread infection, causing even more spots. It can also create scarring.

Pillow Slips - your face is lying on your pillow slip every night so it makes sense to keep it clean. Change your pillow slip every 2 nights with a fresh clean one. The same goes for any hats or hair bands that you wear regularly, keep them clean so they don't contribute to skin problems.

Spectacles should also be washed regularly, especially the rim and the bridge which come into contact with your skin.

Mobiles should be kept squeaky clean as it touches the side of your face and can spread germs and cause infection.
You don't need to use much coconut oil for acne as a little goes a long way.

We are using lavender because of its anti inflammatory properties.

Follow our skin routine twice or three times a week :
  • 1. cleanse the area
  • 2. steam your face with hot water with a few drops of lavender in the bowl
  • 3. massage a little coconut oil into your skin while it is still warm and your pores are still open
exfoliate your skin once a week with desiccated coconut or oatmeal, both of which are very gentle
  • half cup of desiccated coconut or oatmeal : enough coconut milk to make a paste
  • 1 teaspoon of coconut oil
  • 5 drops of essential oil of lavender
Mix the desiccated coconut with enough coconut milk to make a paste. Now warm the coconut oil. To do this run a teacup under hot water, dry the teacup and put the coconut oil into it. When the coconut oil has melted add to the paste with a few drops of lavender.
This recipe was sent in by Tanja. Instead of using coconut oil for acne here is another simple yet powerful method.

Getting rid of oil- Extremely simple!

  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp. of natural honey
Remove the egg white and place in a bowl, and add the two tsp.s of honey.

Egg whites are good against aging and dries up your face to keep it cleaner and clearer, and honey prevents irritation while smoothing out the skin.
