Coconut Oil Soap Recipe

coconut oil soap recipe

Coconut oil is one of natures gifts

Coconut Oil Soap Recipe - I recently made some coconut soap and it was a real delight. I just love the smell of coconut as it reminds me of holidays - and with the added bonus that the soap lasted ages.

A Gift - Why not give a bar of coconut soap to a friend as a gift ? Tie your finished soap bars with a little bit of brown string and they will look really professional.

A Bountiful of Lather - Coconut oil is one of natures gifts, as it not only smells good but has many benefits. One benefit in soap making is that it makes a nice hard bar which gives a bountiful of bubbly lather which moisturises the skin beautifully. There is nothing nicer than a bar of soap which lathers easily even in hard water : it can be so frustrating to be using soap which just doesn’t lather. As with all soaps keep it away from your eyes.

Coconut Oil and Coconut Milk - Because of its properties coconut oil is used in many manufacturers' soaps, but in our recipe we not only use coconut oil but coconut milk as well.

The coconut oil in soap should not be any more than 20% - £30% : any more than this and it becomes drying on the skin upsetting the ph of the acid mantel. Over-do the coconut and it may even cause your skin to become red and angry.

The benefits of our coconut oil soap recipe are :
  • protects from fungi, bacteria and viruses
  • It is the right ph on the skin 5.5
  • coconut oil makes a nice hard bar of soap
  • coconut oil makes soap which lathers easily

Savon de Marseille I was truly drawn to the romantic description of this lovely soap but I totally fell in love when I used it. Maybe it doesn?t lather as much as a gentle glycerine soap would but its moisturising qualities far outweigh this.
