Heal Varicose Veins While Bathing - Comfrey Bath

comfrey bath

What do varicose veins and comfrey have in common?

Comfrey Bath - I asked Ruth from www.aloe-vera-and-handy-herbs.com to give my readers some herbal ideas for the bath and was delighted when she gave me this article. Why was I delighted? I will tell you quietly that I have a varicose vein. Now keep that to yourself and read on…………………………

Have you considered mixing herbs into your bath water to heal things like Varicose Veins? - Comfrey Bath

You may already have your favourite rituals for a bath. You always put in this scented bubble bath. You use a shampoo, or just one kind of soap, but did you know that you could clear up some health problems by adding herbs?

If you have tried Epsom salts too many baths in a row, like I did last summer, you may discover it is possible to get too much of a good thing. (I was absorbing too much salt and getting kidney problems). So it is wise to be discrete and experiment with small amounts. Small scale experiments are generally quite harmless, and you might just discover a perfect solution for your condition.

varicose veinsA friend sent me a bar of soap that has both comfrey and cucumber in it. I wondered what I could expect it to do for me. I looked it up and learned that comfrey in my bath could heal or ease problems with Varicose Veins in my legs. In fact, it is good for all kinds of skin problems. (The cucumber lightens and cleanses blotchy skin). Hmm... I'd noticed the veins in my legs are beginning to shine through the skin; I don't want Varicose veins and blood clots like my Aunt Helen had to be my lot. I started to use that soap as insurance.

Then a light dawned. Ah-ha! I have a comfrey plant, an herb with big leaves as bristled as a brush, growing beside my front doorstep. I can do much more than use that bar of soap. Since I also dry the herbs I collect, I can make a tea of my comfrey leaves, and when I have a scratch from my cat, or other skin problems, I can pour the tea into a wider bowl and dunk my arm, or daub that tea onto my affected skin.

It is also possible to sew muslin (or a loosely woven fabric) herbal tea bags for your bath. These can be two to four times larger than the ones for a cup of tea.
  • Pull a ribbon through the neck of the muslin bag, and tie.
  • You can attach the tie to the water spout in your bathtub and arrange it so the bath bag gets wet as you let in the water.
  • Or you could just play with it in the water for a few minutes so the essence of the herbs dissolves into the water.

comfrey herb As my knowledge of useful herbs continues to grow, I believe for almost every health problem we have, God has placed an herb, or two or three near us. We may know them as weeds. The dandelion and comfrey, and chamomile and chickweed are prime examples. Plantain, nettle and mint are some more.

If you are an apartment dweller and can't come by these plants easily, you could cozy up to your gardening friends and beg these herbs/weeds they are trying to eradicate, - or, it would be easier to go to your nearest health food store and ask for the dried herb packages. Easiest of all would be to go shopping online, for both the specific information and the herbs.
