Dry natural skin care

Dry natural skin can be caused by genetics or by simply not drinking enough water and therefore dehydrating your skin. Your skin can often feel very uncomfortable after washing, almost as if it is a size too small for you. Before you decide you have dry natural skin make sure you are drinking enough water throughout the day. Experts say we should drink at least 8 glasses of water spread out during every day.

Test your skin for dryness. Pick up some skin between your thumb and index finger and let it go. If it doesn’t bounce back immediately then your skin may be dehydrated. This test will only work if you are under 55. On older people the skin’s elastic is much weaker.

Dry Natural Skin Care Types and Treatments

Pregnancy and Dry Skin

pregnancy and dry skin

If you suffer from dry skin you may find while you are pregnant the conditions gets worse. During pregnancy everything about you is increasing! This includes the volume of blood your body carries to supply and feed the growing baby. As a result the moisture from your skin is diverted elsewhere leaving your skin extra dry. Your first line of defence should always be to make sure you are drinking enough water for your body.

Mature Skin

From about the age of 30 it’s very natural for your skin to become a little drier. Our bodies go through lots of hormone changes which produce changes to our skin. Sebum and elasticity is reduced in older skin making it much drier than a younger skin. To prevent wrinkles, try applying our facial oil (at the bottom of the page) before applying your moisturiser. Aromatherapy oils can penetrate much deeper into the skin therefore nourishing at a much deeper level than a moisturiser which protects us by causing a barrier between our skin and the outside world. By giving your skin that extra bit of moisture you will delay the onset of wrinkles.

Dry Flaking Skin

If your skin is dry then it may be flaking. Flakiness is only dead skin coming away from the surface. This happens even in normal skin, however in dry skin it’s more pronounced. It’s important to exfoliate regularly in order to keep dry flaking skin at bay. Why not try our Oatmeal and Yoghurt exfoliate below?

Dry skin brush

A dry skin brush exfoliate requires a soft facial brush preferably with natural bristles. Before washing your face while your skin is still dry massage your face gently with the brush. This will remove dead skin cells, improve blood and lymphatic circulation. A dry skin brush can also be used to brush the whole body for overall improved skin condition. Follow a dry skin brush by using a creamy cleanser and rinse off.

Dry Natural Skin Care Washing Routine
