Homemade Face Mask and Fruit Masks

homemade beauty recipes

Your own homemade face mask such as fruit masks can be made very easily from natural ingredients that you can find in your own kitchen.

They are not difficult to make and require no cooking but the best bit is that you know exactly what your mask contains, unlike a mask taken off the pharmacy shelf which could contain lots of chemicals.

Why should we be worried about the chemicals that are put into our skin products? After all are they not for the good of our skin?

Most chemicals included in skin products are of course there for the benefit of our skin - however have you ever stopped to think that these same products helping your skin are at the same time being absorbed by the skin and taken into your body?

If you think about a nicotine patch or a slimming patch they are all taken into the blood stream by absorption, Using your own natural beauty products means you know exactly what your body is dealing with.

It doesn’t matter what skin type you are, there will be a mask suitable for your skin and at a price so much cheaper. Nature is a great provider.

To help you choose your own homemade face mask we have given you a run down of what you can use inclucing our fruit masks.

Banana - an old favourite which is excellent for dry skin as it moisturizes while helping renew cells.

Strawberries - are tops when it comes to exfoliating. They are rich in alpha hyroxy which is a natural exfoliator. They can benefit skins which need livened up or oily skin which has blocked pores. This is a very gentle way of unblocking pores which won't encourage further oil production. Do be careful if you are going out in the sun after using a fruit mask as your skin can burn very easily - use a sun cream.

Oranges - all citrus fruits make an ideal mask for oily skin. Full of vitamin C it will really lighten and brighten, giving your skin a glow. Be aware that they do heighten the sensitivity of your skin having a photo-sensitizing effect which could lead to burning if you are not careful - use a sun cream for at least 24 hours after using this homemade face mask.

Egg white - is a good old fashioned mask which is superb. It helps to give your skin a good clean by unblocking pores and easing out blackheads as well as generally improving skin tone. If like me you hate the smell, try adding some essential oils such as lavender to disguise it a little.

Green tea - brimming over with antioxidants makes this a great homemade face mask for anyone. Especially good if you have a little sunburn as the antioxidants can help heal and rejuvenate the skin cells.

Coffee - this is another great mask full of antioxidants but it's also great as a detox, so if your skin is looking a bit pale and peaky with a few spots or blemishes scattered about, give this a try. If you suffer from surface veins and capillaries on the surface of your skin, coffee can make them less obvious.
