Honey Face Mask

homemade beauty recipes

Cleopatra loved to use a honey face mask because it kept her skin soft and smooth.

honey face mask From when time began, man has been using honey to nourish, heal and protect. In fact the Babylonians used honey on their temple walls as a ritual cleanser.

The Egyptians used honey as a high energy food which they considered was vital before conception and it was one of the ingredients in the Egyptian embalming fluids. Before and after death, it played an important role.

The Babylonians and Egyptians knew honey had lots of uses including eating it, which they loved to do. They didn?t know anything about its anti-bacterial properties. The reason why singers today bathe their throats in honey is because of its healing and anti-bacterial properties. Doctors are now looking towards natural methods again and so many will recommend using honey for a sore throat instead of anti-biotics.

So it does not matter what skin type you are, you will benefit from a honey face mask.

Basic Honey Face Mask

  • 2 tbls honey
  • 2 tsps milk
Mix the above ingredients together and apply to your face and neck area. The mixture is runny so apply over a sink so as not to make a mess. Leave on for at least 20 minutes, then rinse with warm water.

Banana Honey Face Mask

  • 1 banana
  • 1tbls fresh whipped cream
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1tbls fine oatmeal
Mix the above ingredients together making a paste. Add more cream to make it runnier, add more oatmeal to make the mixer firmer. Apply to your face and leave for 20-30 minutes. Massage with circular movements when rinsing off with warm water. The massage movement will allow the oatmeal to gently exfoliate your face.

Egg White Honey Mask

  • 1tbls honey
  • 1 egg white
  • 1tsp glycerine
  • 2tbls cornflour
Whip the egg white until it forms peaks. Mix all the ingredients together adding more cornflour if needed to make the mixture thicker. The mixture should be a paste when you are finished. Apply to your face and neck area. Leave on for at least 20-30 minutes before rinsing off with warm water.

Refreshing Honey Freshener

After your face mask try this Refreshing Honey Freshener which will clean without leaving your skin feeling tight :
  • 50ml rosewater
  • 1tsp honey
Mix the ingredients together and apply to your face with cotton wool or use a sprinz bottle.
