Honey Skin Care

homemade beauty recipes

Honey Skin Care - One of my favourite skin products is honey. I like to add honey to my face masks, bath recipes, hand cream, cleansers, in fact basically everything I make. Take a look at skin care products and discover how honey is added to many well known products costing the earth. So save yourself a few dollars and make your own honey skin care products at home. You can buy honey easily in any grocery store. You have the added bonus of being able to eat it - as well as add it to beauty recipes, mmm……delicious.

Although far from being a sunscreen, honey has a natural ability to protect the skin from the dangerous rays of the sun because it's brimming over with antioxidants and anti-microbial properties. A little honey skin care treatment will leave your skin feeling silky soft and rejuvenated.

Honey’s ability to absorb and retain moisture makes this a hard ingredient to replace with anything else which is half as good.

Honey Skin Care Mask

The best thing about honey is you can use it as a face mask on its own. Spread a thin layer of honey over your cleansed face, neck and shoulder area and leave for at least 30 minutes. Rinse off and feel the difference immediately.

Honey Acne Treatment

Honey is one of the best treatments for acne as it kills bacteria which can cause boils, spots and pimples. Try this remedy just before bed : 3 tablespoons of honey, mixed with 1 teaspoon of cinnamon : apply to the affected area and leave overnight.

Honey and Oats Face Mask

  • ½ cup oatmeal
  • 1 cup of yoghurt
  • 2 tsp honey
Mix all of the above together and leave for a few minutes to thicken. If you feel the mixture is thick, add more yoghurt. Alternatively if the mixture is too thin, add more oatmeal. Apply to your cleansed face, neck and shoulder area and leave for 20-30 minutes before rinsing.

Honey Milk Bath

While running a warm bath, pour in a quarter cup of honey and allow to mix with the water before stepping in and indulging your skin. For an extra luxurious bath, add two cups of milk along with the honey. Milk is a great exfoliator.

Honey hair conditioner

Before you shampoo add
  • ½ cup honey
  • ¼ warm olive oil
Warm the olive oil by allowing the bottle to stand in a bowl of hot water.

Mix the honey and olive oil together before applying to hair. Comb your hair through to make sure every strand is soaked. Wrap your hair/head in a towel and leave for 30 minutes. Shampoo out. This recipe will moisturise your scalp as well as condition your hair.
