Does Lemon Juice Help Spots
Does lemon juice help spots, pimples and zits? This is a question that readers often write and ask me.
My answer is yes, lemon juice is brilliant at helping rid these unwelcome guests.
Lemon juice is an old remedy, one your granny will know of and her granny before her.
I suspect if we go way back, even Cleopatra asked the question, “Does lemon juice help spots,”
and was advised to use lemon juice to keep her spots and pimples at bay.
Heaven forbid that anyone might see her wearing a zit!!
Maybe even Caesar knew about it as it's a great soother after shaving.
Lemon juice is a disinfectant and a bleach so it will kill the bacteria which causes the spot and also whiten it giving pores and blackheads a cleaner appearance and it may also reduce any redness.
Safety FirstWhen you apply the juice you may experience a little stinging - this is normal. If you have sensitive skin the juice may cause irritation and redness. If this happens, stop using the juice. It's always best to do a little skin test behind your ear before trying out any new products to your skin.TreatmentSqueeze the juice out of the lemon into a clean cup. Then using cotton wool, dap a little juice onto each spot. You can do this as often as required during the day. Carry on treating the infected area until your spots have healed; this may take 2-4 days. Lemon juice will dry your skin out so do be careful you don't over-do it, and use a good moisturiser after treatment. You can even add lemon juice to your favourite moisturiser - two treatments in one!Other UsesWhy not add the left-over juice to a glass of cold water for a refreshing cleansing drink full of vitamin C. Did you know that you can give yourself blond highlights using lemon juice or use it to brighten up finger nails ? Lemon juice is an acid so be careful not to use it near paint or photos etc as it may stain. I hope this has answered the question, "Does lemon juice help spots?"
