Your menopausal skin care plan

A menopausal skin care plan is vital to maintain a youthful look as we approach our forties and into our fifties. At forty/fifty plus your skin goes through many hormonal ups and downs as you go through the menopause and it needs a helping hand. You may need to take a look at some of the products you have been using on your skin and make some alterations.

Your menopausal skin care plan should include products which will hydrate your skin and contain :

antioxidants - which help fight free radicals which in turn help to reduce fine lines and wrinkles
vitamin A - protects against UV light and boosts the body's immunity system, improving the skin's texture and helping fight bacteria
vitamin C - a natural antioxidant which helps with the production of collagen and elastin which declines as you get older
vitamin E - a natural antioxidant which works best alongside selenium, keeping the skin hydrated and helping fight free radicals
alpha-hydroxy Acids - found naturally in fruits, milk and sugar, which will exfoliate the skin, removing dead skin cells which form on the top layer.
beta-hydroxy acids - found in willow bark - is much like alpha hydroxy acid but more suitable to ageing and sensitive skin. Helps reduce wrinkles and ageing spots
retinoid - helps renew collagen and elastin in our skin, thereby reducing wrinkles.
