A natural self tan out of a bottle and totally UV free
If you woke up this morning and decided to wear a skirt , you may have got a fright! What were these pale deathly looking things at the end of your body ?
It’s time for a natural self tan. Buying a self tanning lotion is completely personal . What may suit one person’s skin will not suit another. Shop around and try them out.
It’s helpful if the self tanner you choose has a colour guide especially if you are not familiar with applying self tan.
Preparation for your natural self tan
Exfoliate your skin, this will remove any dead surface skin and make for an even smooth tan.
Do not apply self tan just after you come out of the bath/shower , wait at least half an hour to allow your body to cool.
Take a small amount of moisturiser and apply to your feet especially where you can bend your ankle at the front of the foot and around the ankle at your heel.
Apply a small amount of moisturiser to your elbows and knees.
Don’t overdo the moisturiser. Moisturiser will weaken the tan in those areas and avoid the orange look. but you don’t want to block it altogether.
Wear plastic gloves to avoid your hands tanning too much.
Application
Face - Take your tanning lotion and apply enough to cover your entire face right to the hairline and ears. Cover the neck area and the back of the neck. Do not cover the ears themselves. If you are very pale or just want to add a touch of colour to your face add half moisturiser to half tanning lotion and mix together before applying.
Arms - Take enough tan to spread over entire arm making sure you don’t miss any areas. Apply tan very lightly to your wrist area as these areas would normally not get too much colour from the sun. Remember to tan your arm pits as well. This is where your colour guide is helpful. Leave your hands until last.
Breasts and Stomach - Apply the entire area with tan making sure no areas are missed.
Back - In my experience it’s really best to have your partner or friend on hand to tan your back because there is a small part which is near impossible to reach! They must wear gloves.
Legs - Apply enough tan to cover entire leg, making sure no bits are missed.
Feet - Don’t put very much tan on your feet as it’s really easy to end up with orange looking feet. Lightly cover front of feet and toes and the back of your ankles.
Hands - Remove gloves. Apply tan using cotton wool. This will avoid your hands gaining extra tan. Cover the outside part of your hand and leave your palms untouched.
WAIT at least 15 minutes before dressing to give tan enough time to dry.
