Olive Oil Skin Care
Olive Oil Skin Care - Ever wondered why Mediterranean women are so beautiful? Their secret could be olive oil. That bottle of oil which sits in the kitchen cupboard where nobody pays attention to it is a valuable beauty aid which can be used in all sorts of recipes.
As far back as The Romans and The Egyptians, olive oil was used on skin. You immediately think of Cleopatra, a natural beauty who made so many of her own home-made recipes which have passed down through the ages.
Olive oil is not only of great benefit on the outside of your body, if
eaten it helps to reduce cholesterol and protects against heart disease on the inside.
Really you could say that it is the
ultimate in bodycare.
The benefits of olive oil skincare are :
- Nourishing and soothing, leaving the skin supple
- Moisturising even the driest of skins
- Full of antioxidant properties which protect the skin from harmful free radicals.
A few ways to use olive oil
Always use virgin olive oil as the clear oil has been processed.
Moisturise dry lips by applying a thin layer of oil before bedtime. If your
lips are cracked take a soft toothbrush over them to exfoliate before applying oil.
Massage oil into your feet or hands just before bedtime and wear cotton socks or gloves to bed. This is a great remedy for cracked heels or really dry hands which feel uncomfortable.
To soothe tired legs and help puffy ankles, massage olive oil with upward strokes into your legs : wonderfully relaxing if you have been on your feet all day.
Smooth a thin layer of oil onto your cleansed face before bedtime to help any dryness. This remedy is also a great anti-wrinkle prevention on mature skin.
