A Pimple under skin can be tough to get rid of quickly

pimple under skin A pimple under skin can be unsightly but also painful. They are the worst kind to get as they have no head you can pop, in fact if you try to pop them you can cause some ugly scarring.

Sometimes its just a waiting game while the pimple comes to a head which can be awful as these pimples can be red and inflamed as well as sore.

Commonly they are caused by hormones and are often found along the jaw line just before the onset of your menstrual period.

Prevention

There a few things we can do to avoid getting a pimple under the skin such as exfoliating regularly.

Exfoliating

By exfoliating you are removing the dead skin cells which sit on the surface of the skin and which sometimes can block pores especially if combined with excessive sebum.

You really will notice a difference in your skin as it will look fresher, brighter and therefore healthier.

Face Mask

A regular face mask will also help, especially one that will draw the impurities out, such as Fullers Earth or as it’s sometimes called a green clay mask. It's made from natural ingredients and has been used by women for centuries.

Fullers Earth

To make a basic mask take one part fullers earth to one part water and mix together to form a paste.

Instead of water you can use milk, coconut milk or fruit juice.

You can also add other ingredients to the paste such as oatmeal.

Treating a Pimple Under Skin

Steaming

Steaming is a good old fashioned home remedy where the heat will not only open up and cleanse your pores but will help draw the pimple out from under your skin.

Use a few drops of lavender in a bowl of steaming water. Lavender is a great anti inflammatory essential oil.

If you have no lavender try using chamomile which is a great soother, or why not add a few drops of both essential oils.

Regular facial steams will help reduce the outbreaks of acne and hormonal spots.

Heat Treatment

If you have no time to give yourself a facial steam, then pour a little hot water into a small bowl.

Add two or three drops each of lavender and chamomile.

Dip a cosmetic cotton wool pad into the liquid.

Place the pad on the pimple under skin and keep it there until the heat subsides.

Repeat a few times every couple of hours until the pimple has been drawn out.

Green Tea

Take a tea bag of green tea and soak in hot water. Remove the tea bag from the hot water and squeeze out excess. Hold the tea bag against the pimple under skin until it goes cold. This provides the heat to draw the impurities out of the skin with the added benefits of antioxidants.

First Aid

Another method which can help draw the impurities out of the skin is putting a simple first aid plaster over the spot.

The plaster will build up heat and if left on overnight can help draw out the infection.

Before applying the plaster make sure the area is clean by using a toner with alcohol in it or that it is disinfected by such as dettol.

Please don’t ever lose patience by trying to pop a pimple under skin as this only makes it worse - sometimes if all else fails it really is just a waiting game.
