Reverse French manicure

If you want a new fantastic look then go for a Reverse French Manicure.

What is a Reverse French Manicure?

An ordinary French manicure is a pink base with a tip. A reverse French manicure has the white at the moon of the nail instead of the tip and in many cases both. This manicure definitely takes a steady hand and lots and lots of practice but worth it for something a little different.

It can be as dramatic and vivid in looks as you want by using dark colours such as navy blue, brown or even black.

reverse french manicure Maybe you prefer a romantic look? Then choose pastel colours such as pastille blue or green.
  • You will need
  • base coat
  • dark polish or a pastel shade
  • white polish
  • almond oil
Before you begin :
  • remove all nail polish
  • shape your nails either rounded or square whatever is your personal choice.
  • buff your nails with a white buffer
  • use an orange stick to push your cuticles back Take your time here as this is important as you want a nice round shaped white moon for your manicure.
Now it's time to polish. Take your time. Rushing will only end in tears!
    1. Polish your nails first using a base coat and allow to dry for two or three minutes

    2. Give your nails one coat of the white polish giving time to dry. It's important that this layer is dry before going onto the next step.

    3. Watch the video below. Using page reinforcements as shown in the video place one on each nail. Taking the dark or pastel polish paint the nail.

    4. Don't take too much polish on your brush at one time or you will have a puddle of polish on the nail. Take your time here or you will have to re-do the whole nail. You may not need a second coat on every nail.

    5. Take a look at our French manicure page for full instructions if you want to paint the tips of the nails for the double look.

    6. To finish your reverse french manicure, allow the nails about 5 minutes to dry before applying a little almond oil onto each nail. This will dry the nail even quicker. Great for women with little patience like myself !
