Wedding Spray Tan

Your wedding spray tan is not just any old tan - it's a tan which has to be flawless.

We have put together a few tips and ideas to give you the perfect tan and wedding.

Choose a salon which you trust and someone who is experienced at putting on spray tan. Get your spray tan at least 2 days before your wedding to let it settle and look natural.

Take time before your big day to have a trial wedding spray tan so that you are happy with the colour.

Don't get too dark a tan as this looks so artificial and you will stand out in your photos for all the wrong reasons.

A couple of days after your trial tan, arrange an appointment with your make up adviser so that she can match make up to your tanned skin. A white skin will need a completely different colour of foundation to a tanned skin.

If you are waxing your legs or eyebrows then ensure you do this 48 hours before tanning as waxing opens your pores, and tanning could allow infection into them. wedding spray tan You need to allow time for your pores to close again so they are protected. The last thing you want is a boil appearing for your wedding! Waxing however is a great exfoliator!

Exfoliate 24 hours before you get your wedding spray tan. This is really important to get a tan which is even in tone. Use a good exfoliater such as Village Naturals Sugar Body Scrub And a pair of exfoliating gloves such as AquaBella Bath Gloves. Exfoliating gloves are great and really give good results when it comes to getting rid of dead skin. Why not try making our homemade body scrub.

Shower or bathe the night before your wedding spray tan but don't shower or bath just before going for your tan. It takes a while to cool down after washing so you will sweat for a while after. You don't want to sweat your new tan away, now do you!

Don't wear make-up, deodorant, perfume or moisturisers. These interfere with the tan and may leave white patches.

When you arrive at the salon wear loose clothes, wear something that buttons up the front rather than take a top off over your head. in fact the looser the clothes the better. Wear sandals on your feet or flip flops. Take something to hold your hair back and make sure you have an old pair of pants on that you don't mind getting a bit messy. Alternatively you may prefer being nude while being tanned. It's up to you how much of your body you want spray tanned. Some brides may want an all over tan, while others may just want the top half of their body tanned.

After your wedding spray tan is applied your therapist should allow plenty of time for your tan to dry. I normally allow at least 20 minutes in a heated room. This is important because if your tan is still wet when you put your clothes back on, then it may streak.

While your tan is developing don't wash the dishes, don't go to the gym, don't go swimming or take a shower, just go home and put your feet up with thoughts of "water and sweating are my enemies"!

Most spray tans are left on for at least 12 hours to develop before washing off. Use warm water and soap. The idea is get all the remains of the liquid tan off as its job is finished. You will find once it is washed off that it leaves a much softer natural looking tan.

To ensure your tan lasts through to your honeymoon, use a good body moisturiser every day.

Be aware that swimming may bleach your tan and you will still need to protect your skin from the sun using a good sun tan lotion.
